New Lyrics

How will this help?
Put love on the shelf
Forget that it's there
Take one giant step
Try all you want
To run from your fear
'Cause when you get back
I still will be here

Run..
From what you know and the people you love
Run..
From the changes you see in the way life was
Run..
Until at last that one day comes
Run..

Hard to believe
You'll ever stay
When all you do
Is walk away
But brick by brick
I'll tear down the wall
And stand behind
To break your fall
So go on..

Run..
From what you know and the people you love
Run..
From the changes you see in the way life was
Run..
Until at last that one day comes
Run..

Find the heart
To do your part
We have no chance
Unless you start
Love the good
Enjoy the fun
Resist the urge
To go and..

Run..
From what you know and the people you love
Run..
From the changes you see in the way life was
Run..
Until at last that one day comes
Run..

I want to figure out some sort of outro but I'm not sure what yet.

Lyrics Done Maybe?

I've added on to a few lyrics that I came up with last week and I think I might be done with it. I'm not sure yet.. seems a little melodramatic.

How do I think of the right thing to say?
What do I use to make the words come out right?
It's all in my head and yet it's a struggle
Putting words on the page is a constant fight

I thought this would be much easier to do
Take words from my heart and write a song for you
A constant shade of blue
Always piercing through
Why can't I just write a song for you?

It seems like all I do is make it harder on myself
I should focus on what I can do and not on someone else
But anytime I try to say
The way you make me feel
I wish that someone else could write it
So then their words I could steal

I thought this would be much easier to do
Take words from my heart and write a song for you
A constant shade of blue
Always piercing through
Why can't I just write a song for you?

These words don't do justice to the person you are
But it's all I've been able to come up with so far
So give me a chance to do good by the rest
And believe when I say..
I gave it my best
I gave it my best
I gave it my best
I give you my best.

I think writing a guitar part and a melody for this one is going to be tough. I'm not used to writing such wordy pieces. Most of my stuff is fairly simple and not too difficult so this should be a challenge.

New Lyrics

Days go by and still it seems
We're living in a world that doesn't cater to dreams
All they are teaching
All they are preaching
Is to dream up dreams but never really reach them
How can we win when all our future leaders
Only care if they're biters
Only care if they're bleeders
We have to wake up and smell the proverbial roses
Stop caring who's original and who are the posers
Only when we find faith can we truly be free
Break through the shackles that bind you and bind me

..just a start..

Headshots

Trying to decide which two headshots to choose. Any help would be sweet!

I narrowed it down from 75 to 8...

New Lyrics

Not sure what I think..

Roommate's Lullabye

Just adding on to Jesse's brilliance last night..

Well the time
It is for sleeping
But we're not going to be
We are staying
Up late a-talking
'Cause we are the best of friends
We don't care
What lies before us
When the morning sun rises
Be it class
Or work or nothing
All that matters is now
Because while time
It is for sleeping
We will not say goodnight
For this friendship
Is eternal
A bond for all time

I'm sure more will be added. This feels like the kind of song that all of us will contribute 5 verses, and that sounds perfect to me.

Such a funky song..

Flannel? Cardigans? Flannel cardigans?!?

Started writing this awhile back and suddenly felt the need to finish it..

I'm thinking of something
Never thought before
It would cover up my outsides
And can't be bought in any store
We would be best friends
Go everywhere together
Until the end
Together forever
Me and my cardigan

Wrapped in the comfort
Of your woolen thread
You'd keep me warm in the morning
Straight through until I go to bed
We would be best friends
Go everywhere together
Until the end
Together forever
Me and my cardigan

The question you might be
Asking one another
Is what makes this flannel
Greater than the others
Well I'm not sure
If this answer you can handle
But here it goes
This cardigan is flannel

We would be best friends
Go everywhere together
Until the end
Together forever
Me and my cardigan
Me and my cardigan
Me and my flannel cardigan
Me and my flannel cardigan

Rough draft but I like it so far.

End of Act 1

So Jesse at 2 in the morning is brilliant (even moreso than Jesse at any other time of day). Last night he randomly rises from his seat in the living room, moseys on over to the piano, and pulls a gem from thin air. This gem is now the closing of the first act of the musical we are writing. Here is a little taste..

Well the time
It is for sleeping
But we're not going to be
We are staying
Up late a-talking
'Cause we are the best of friends

Homeward Bound

First and foremost, Megabus officially has my business for good seeing as all buses are locked and loaded with free Wi-Fi and they actually let you on the bus that you reserved a ticket for (unlike Greyhound and Lucky Star that put you in a line and put you on the first bus available regardless of the time).

On my way back to Beantown after a great night in NYC. Anyone who is in NoHo needs to go to Panchito's for pitchers of sangria and Silver Spurs for their wonderful "frenchie toasties."

Also, anyone looking for a great show to see at a cheap price: Sessions - A New Musical! I just saw it tonight and it was a fantastic find. Off-Broadway, it has student tickets for $20 (we were third row) and the show is really refreshing. It was extremely prevalent and the music was gorgeous. It's also a nice chance to check out Ken Jennings (the original Toby in Sweeney Todd) for a nice reasonable price, not to mention that he is brilliant.

Time to fall asleep against a window with my jacket as a pillow...

Razzle Dazzle

I have been trying extremely hard recently to stay positive and hopeful regarding our new president, but he is making it increasingly difficult to do so.

All of you in-denial-finger-pointers can sit back and blame Bush for what is going on right now with our economy (and yes he is to blame for a big part of it), but the fact of the matter is that the markets are RESPONDING to policies being set in this moment. The market is an indicator, not a progress report; it marks the future. So yes, the market is in bad shape already from Bush, but it is getting worse from Obama. I am increasingly worried about the ineffectiveness of the stimulus package the more that I learn about it.

Contradictions presented between "Candidate Obama" and "President Obama" are also very discouraging. One very clear example of this is demonstrated in healthcare reform. Candidate Obama claimed that he believed government-controlled healthcare accompanied with tax increases was a bad idea and something he stood firmly against. President Obama apparently didn't get that memo, as he is taking strides towards that EXACT thing which he supposedly stood against.

Once again, I have been trying to remain hopeful, but seeing Obama shove his Democratic agenda down the throats of America is starting to get out of control, and with approval ratings traveling in the same direction as Wall Street and unemployment the only thing that seems to be rising, I can only hope that the rest of America opens their eyes soon.

...thanks, also, President Obama, for appointing one of the most radical pro-abortionists we have in this country to SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES! All this is: a downward spiral.

Best Band Ever?

Just some insight from Boyz II Men (probably the best boy band, vocally speaking)..

____________________________________
I long for the warmth of days gone by
When you were mine
But now those days are memories in time
Life's empty without you by my side
My heart belongs to you no matter what I try

When I get the courage up to love somebody new
It always falls apart cause they just can't compare to you
Your love won't release me I'm bound under ball and chain
Reminiscing our love as I watch four seasons change

In comes the winter breeze
That chills the air and drifts the snow
And I imagine kissing you under the mistletoe
When springtime makes it's way here
Lilac blooms reminds me of the scent of your perfume
When summer burns with hear I always get the hots for you
Go skinny dipping in the ocean where we used to do
When autumn sheds the leaves
The trees are bare when you're not here
It doesn't feel the same

Remember the nights when we closed our eyes
And vowed that you and I would be in love for all time
Everytime I think about these things I shared with you
I break down and cry cause I get so emotional
Until you release me I'm bound under ball and chain
Reminiscing our love as I watch four season change

This loneliness has crushed my heart
Please let me love again
Cause I need your love to comfort me and ease my pain
Or four seasons will bring the loneliness again

New Lyrics

So I've been writing more lately because I want to get back into my own music instead of drowning in other people's music. These are some ideas I have that haven't really been organized or rearranged at all..

Be it now or later
The time will come
Headfirst I'll fly straight into the sun
But before that moment
I'll need to show
I knew all that I could know
Because tomorrow
The world could end in the twinkle of an eye
No time for tears
No time to cry
No time to even wonder why
Hard to believe that all I can see
From the shirt on my back to the shoes on my feet
Are nothing more than gifts to me
From a beautiful Almighty
And yet reality is we're no more than peons
Living lives of years in a world of eons
Searching for signs lit in neon
Saying "Happiness over here"
------------------------------------
No eternal reward can forgive us now for wasting away the dawn
So until the time I meet my maker the world will have to go on
---------(really like this)-----------
And what's even more
In a world of war
The closing doors and falling floors
Leave nothing there worth fighting for
No number of years or successful careers
Can chase away unhappy tears
Caused by giving way to fears
That linger in your soul

Weirdly, though the order of the lyrics is strictly based on how it came through my mind and out onto the paper, as I was typing out the lyrics just now and saying them in my head I really enjoyed the spontaneity. Anyways, just some material.

"Let Freedom Ring"

This is a link to "Let Freedom Ring," a song by the Gaither Vocal Band..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZFPX-jgCCI

Normally I feel like music is something that I hide behind, something I use to escape my questions and problems. Well, I really believe that God used my passion for music to lead me towards Him. Through the grapevine I heard about David Phelps, David Phelps brought me to GVB, and GVB brought me to some amazing worship.

I couldn't be more grateful.

New Territory

Well, I can't say I've ever had a blog before, and I'm not sure exactly what I might use this for but it seems like something that might occupy some free time.

Not much to say right now so I'll leave you with a great article from the Washington Times..
